France Commemorates 10 Years Since November 13, 2015 Terror Attacks with Nationwide Tributes

On November 13, 2025, France solemnly marked the 10th anniversary of the November 13, 2015 terrorist attacks that devastated Paris, leaving 130 people dead across multiple locations including the Bataclan, Stade de France, and various bars and restaurants. This tragic event remains the deadliest jihadist attack in France’s history.

President Emmanuel Macron conducted visits to each attack site and inaugurated a memorial garden in Paris, where official ceremonies were held in honor of the victims. The day’s commemorations aimed to reflect on the lives lost and the ongoing impact on survivors and families.

In a moving tribute, bells tolled from Notre-Dame de Paris and other churches between 5:57 PM and 6:02 PM. The Archbishop of Paris, Laurent Ulrich, encouraged Parisians to light candles at their windows, symbolizing unity and prayer. He remembered the “long night of anguish” and reaffirmed that the memory of the victims continues to hold a strong place in the hearts of many ten years later.

Among those remembering was Sophie Dias, daughter of Manuel Dias, the first victim who died in a suicide bombing near the Stade de France. Sophie highlighted the emotional weight of her loss, emphasizing her advocacy to ensure victims at all sites, including less publicized ones like the Stade de France, are not forgotten. She underscored the importance of annual commemorations to keep their memories alive beyond the decade milestone.

The global community also observed the anniversary, recalling the solidarity shown in 2015 worldwide. Flags flew at half-mast, monuments glowed in French colors, and moments of silence were held in cities such as London, Berlin, and others, symbolizing international unity against terrorism.

The Ministry of the Interior highlighted the decade-long evolution in France’s anti-terrorism efforts and paid tribute to emergency responders who risked their lives during the attacks. The day’s collective message reinforced the commitment to remembrance under the credo “Never forget.”
