France Marks Tenth Anniversary of November 13 Attacks with Nationwide Commemorations

On November 13, 2025, France solemnly commemorated the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks that shook Paris and Saint-Denis in 2015. Hundreds gathered at the Place de la République in Paris, while many thousands more came together across several key sites to honor the 132 victims. The evocative ceremonies included moments of tears, silence, and songs, underscoring the profound and lasting pain felt across the nation.

Families, survivors, officials, and citizens united in remembrance during the events. Among those attending the gathering at Place de la République were Léa and Tibo, now 23, who were 13 years old during the attacks. Holding white roses symbolizing hope, they reflected on the vivid memories that remain etched in their minds and those of many others.

In Saint-Denis, a new 'Jardin du souvenir' (Garden of Remembrance) was inaugurated at Place Saint-Gervais in a ceremony attended by approximately 1,500 relatives, survivors, and officials. This memorial garden was established as a living space and poignant site to honor and remember the victims.

The day’s commemorations extended beyond these locations, encompassing ceremonies at the Stade de France and the Bataclan theater, as well as in front of terraces in the 10th and 11th arrondissements, where the tragic events unfolded.

These memorial events poignantly demonstrated the enduring impact of the attacks on the community and the collective commitment to remembrance. The emotional tributes expressed at these sites serve as a reminder that the light of the victims’ faces “will never be extinguished,” resonating deeply ten years later among Parisians and the French at large.
