France Prepares Charter Flights to Evacuate Vulnerable Citizens Amid Middle East Conflict

France is mobilizing to repatriate its most vulnerable nationals from Middle Eastern countries affected by the ongoing conflict involving Iran. According to Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, about 400,000 French citizens reside or are traveling in the region, with 25,000 already reaching out to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for help. The government is arranging chartered flights and exploring various options including commercial bookings and potential military aircraft to ensure safe and prioritized evacuation.

Consular teams are actively supporting French nationals at key border crossings, such as between Israel and Egypt and Jordan, facilitating the safe departure of those wishing to leave amid the deteriorating security situation. Embassies and consulates have been tasked with identifying individuals who are most vulnerable to prioritize their return.

Minister Barrot urged all French citizens in the region to register with consular services to enhance tracking and provide targeted assistance. The French authorities are thus deploying multiple measures to support evacuation efforts in coordination with diplomatic missions while closely monitoring the dynamic and challenging environment.
