France Shines at European Championships 2026 with Relay Gold and Individual Medals

At the 2026 European Championships held in Paris/Saint-Denis, France celebrated a standout performance with several significant individual and team achievements. Swimmer Maxime Grousset secured a silver medal in the 50m butterfly, narrowly missing gold by just two hundredths of a second, before contributing to France's first gold title in the 4x100m mixed relay. The French relay team finished strongly with a time of 3'39"64, more than a second ahead of the Netherlands and neutral athletes, surpassing their previous national record. A key contributor was Mary-Ambre Moluh, who set a new French record during her relay leg. The team’s strategy of starting the relay with a female swimmer proved advantageous. Grousset described the performance as "a very good start to the championship for me and the team. We are strong, we showed that on the relays."
