France to Reimburse Anti-Obesity Drugs Wegovy and Mounjaro Starting Monday

Starting Monday, the French national health insurance system, Assurance-maladie, will reimburse 65% of costs for the anti-obesity medications Wegovy and Mounjaro. This policy targets patients suffering from massive obesity without comorbidities as well as those with severe obesity accompanied by comorbidities. The initiative aims to reduce the financial burden for patients requiring medical assistance for obesity treatment. However, initial prescriptions can only be issued by specialized doctors, ensuring appropriate medical oversight. This new reimbursement scheme marks a significant step by France to support obese patients in managing their health through these advanced treatments.
