Grand Pau's Strategic Development Plans Aim for Sustainable Growth

In a significant effort to shape the future of Grand Pau, local authorities have begun discussions on the territory's ambitious strategic planning document (PAS) for the next two decades. With three public meetings scheduled across 173 municipalities impacting approximately 232,000 residents, the initiative aims to redefine housing, land use, and economic growth in the region. The first meeting took place on October 1 in Pau, sparking intense debates about land artificialization and demographic shifts.

The PAS seeks to achieve a 53% reduction in land consumption by 2031, reflecting the goals of the Climate and Resilience Law. A comprehensive demographic plan envisions that 50% of newcomers will settle in the central area of Pau while 30% will head to designated polarities, alongside a target to provide 22,400 new or renovated homes by 2050.
