On July 8, 2025, Decazeville unveiled plans for a significant new logistics platform by Chronopost, set to open in March 2026. This ambitious initiative, backed by an investment of 8 million euros, aims to create around 50 jobs and revitalize the local economy, particularly after the detrimental closure of the SAM foundry in 2021 that severely affected employment in the region.
Spanning 6,200 square meters, the platform will process between 5,000 and 6,500 parcels daily, positioning Decazeville as a key logistics hub. Mayor François Marty described the project as a "bet on the economy," highlighting the collaboration between local officials and business leaders to foster industrial growth.
Environmental considerations are also paramount in this project; the logistics platform will meet the RE 2020 environmental standards, include photovoltaic panels, and feature green spaces accounting for 43% of the 32,000 square meters of land. This aligns with the local government's commitment to sustainable development amidst economic challenges.
