Between May 29 and June 6, 2025, the French Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty announced significant regulatory updates impacting veterinary practices and agricultural products. Five new European regulations were introduced, including an important rectification of Regulation (EU) 2024/1143 concerning geographical indications for wine and agricultural products. This adjustment was officially finalized on June 5, 2025.
In addition, new regulations signed on June 4, 2025, including Regulation (EU) 2025/1112, expanded the list of authorized flavoring substances in food, specifically incorporating compounds like naringenin. Another key update, Regulation (EU) 2025/1101, set stricter maximum residue limits for non-chemically assimilable biological substances in food derived from animals, as assessed by the European Medicines Agency.
French regulatory enhancements also included three new texts, such as a May 26 decree homologating the specifications for the Charolaise beef label, aiming to maintain high food quality standards. Furthermore, a fresh advisory listed temporary approved abattoirs in preparation for the Aïd el-Adha celebration in June 2025, addressing both cultural significance and food safety needs. These updates underscore France's continued commitment to improving food safety and regulatory transparency within the agricultural sector.
