Raphaël Glucksmann Launches 2027 Campaign Highlighting Sovereignty, Ecology, and Social Justice

On June 13, Raphaël Glucksmann, co-president of the Place publique party, held a major meeting in Aubervilliers to outline his platform for the 2027 French presidential election. Though not yet officially a candidate, Glucksmann addressed a crowd exceeding 2,000 people, emphasizing the need to restore France's sovereignty, implement a robust ecological transition, and renew the left's political force to challenge both Emmanuel Macron's administration and far-left La France insoumise.

He began by paying tribute to Lyhanna, an 11-year-old recent victim of violence, underscoring his commitment to social justice including laws against gender-based violence. Glucksmann highlighted France's lack of true freedom due to technological and industrial dependencies, particularly on energy and key technologies. He proposed an "industrial emergency state" to counter the country's disindustrialization and advocated for affordable electric vehicles, with plans for a monthly rental of 100 euros.

Furthermore, Glucksmann sharply criticized Macron's ecological record and vowed to prioritize climate issues. He identified global tech figures such as Elon Musk and Sam Altman as adversaries exploiting personal data and influencing society negatively, pledging to address technological dependence and threatening to ban TikTok if it does not meet European regulations. Education and public services also featured prominently in his call for a patriotic left to address territorial inequalities and bolster workers' rights.

Glucksmann positioned himself as a defender of French sovereignty against external influences from China, the US, and global tech oligarchs, stating his determination to "defy predictions and bring the left back to power" in 2027. He ruled out backing candidates from Macron's camp or Jean-Luc Mélenchon, emphasizing a distinct path centered on freedom, ecology, and social justice.
