Sonia Mabrouk Resigns from CNews Over Jean-Marc Morandini Controversy

Sonia Mabrouk, a prominent journalist at CNews, announced her resignation on February 6, 2026, as a direct consequence of the network's decision to retain Jean-Marc Morandini on air. Morandini, who has been convicted of corruption of minors, remains a divisive figure within CNews, which is part of the Canal+ group.

Mabrouk cited a "certain and effective deterioration" in her relationship with part of the channel's management following her opposition to Morandini's continued presence on air. During a live interview with MP Jérôme Guedj, she stressed her moral conviction and unwavering commitment to supporting victims of sexual violence, particularly minors. She declared, "Yesterday, today, as tomorrow, my compass will remain the preservation of the interest of victims."

Her departure marks a significant ethical stance within French media, as she voiced concerns over the network's handling of Morandini's situation. Mabrouk will no longer conduct political interviews on CNews' morning show, signaling a profound personal and professional boundary regarding media ethics.
