As France approaches Bastille Day on July 14, 2025, several departments have enforced strict temporary regulations on fireworks to enhance public safety. In Haut-Rhin, a ban on the sale, purchase, and transportation of fireworks will be effective from 8 AM on July 11 until 8 AM on July 15. This measure aims to prevent accidents during the celebrations, although certain exceptions are permitted for authorized public displays conducted by qualified professionals. Additionally, the prefect has prohibited rave parties in Haut-Rhin until August 4, 2025, as part of maintaining public order amid the celebrations.
In contrast, Bas-Rhin has not implemented specific bans for the holiday, but officials have reminded residents that fireworks usage is heavily regulated year-round. Fireworks classified as F1 can be used by individuals aged 12 or older, while categories F2, F3, and F4 have strict age and usage restrictions. Due to current drought conditions, any fireworks must not be set off within 50 meters of forested areas in Bas-Rhin.
Meanwhile, the Prefect of Cantal has announced a similar temporary ban on fireworks from July 12 at 12 PM to July 15 at 12 PM, covering all forms of fireworks including categories F2, F3, F4, P1, P2, T1, and T2. There are exemptions in place for professionals with the requisite qualifications and for distress flares. The regulations are intended to maintain public safety and prevent disturbances during the holiday celebrations.
