The 4th edition of the Terra Trad festival, organized by the Centre Départemental de Danses et Musiques Traditionnelles (CDMDT65), was a vibrant celebration of traditional music and dance that recently took place. The event featured a comprehensive program including workshops, conferences, traditional games, and concerts, successfully attracting over 60 participants, as reported on July 8, 2025.

A standout feature of the festival was a conference that highlighted traditional instruments from the Occitanie region, emphasizing the area's rich cultural heritage. The festival culminated in a closing concert that showcased a variety of performances, including those from children participating in the 'orchestre à l’école' program from Juillan. Notably, 35 CE2 students performed using various instruments such as the violin, cello, percussion, accordion, clarinet, flute, and tambourine.

In addition to the children's performances, groups from Sarrancolin and Ibos demonstrated their work from a recent three-month dance workshop. Demonstrations of traditional instruments also captivated attendees, with the clari (a type of oboe), presented by Joanis Mathieu, and bagpipes played by a duo, Jean-Paul and Freddy. The festival also showcased polyphony, with performances from the female groups las Lobas and Espelidas led by Régis Latapie.

For those keen on delving into traditional music and dance, CDMDT65 offers free courses throughout June, with open days planned for September, encouraging community engagement and cultural learning. More details are available on their website www.cdmdt65.fr.
