Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, appointed more than three weeks ago, has presented a detailed roadmap to deputies and senators from the common base, including parties like Renaissance and Les Républicains, emphasizing the urgent need for unity and compromise within a politically tense environment. Lecornu's road map outlines critical priorities such as the 2026 budget focused on reducing public spending while ensuring national stability and equitable effort distribution. Other priorities include stimulating economic growth, investing in pensions and health, tackling purchasing power concerns, reinforcing national sovereignty in energy, agriculture, and industry, and addressing climate change mitigation. The plan also highlights combating all forms of fraud, enhancing public security, and reforming public services for better performance.

Acknowledging the government’s "very relative majority" and the political challenges following President Macron's latest parliamentary situation, Lecornu also stresses the necessity of engaging with opposition groups to build the necessary compromises for the country’s stability. Meanwhile, Lecornu's new government of 18 ministers, most from the previous administration, is under pressure amid a fractured National Assembly and possible censure motions by Socialist and National Rally parties. His recent abandonment of article 49.3, which allowed budget passage without parliamentary approval, has been welcomed by opposition but also met with scrutiny as widespread public protests continue, with attendance estimates reaching up to 600,000.

Lecornu’s roadmap explicitly aims at shared achievement rather than a full policy declaration, reflecting his resolve to govern through dialogue and cooperation to address social issues and economic challenges.
